How to Optimize Your Telecourse Experience

USE A REGULAR TELEPHONE

Our experience is the land line telephones or cell phones provide the best reception and predictability on the teleconference line. However, Skype Pay-As-You-Go and VoIP options often work well.  If you struggle entering your telecourse using Skype or VoIP phone system, please contact your service provider directly.

JOINING THE CALL

Call lines often get clogged when several people call on the hour.  To create more ease in entering the call, please call 5-10 minutes before your telecourse is scheduled to begin.  This will also help us start  and end on schedule.

If you call in after the specified time for the class, please don't say anything until you are asked to (even though you will be prompted to do so in an automated message).  This will contribute to the flow of the call.  Rarely will people be greeted who join a call 15 minutes later than the scheduled start time.

LEAVING THE CALL

When the class is over, just say goodbye and hang up.

LINE NOISE AND OTHER DISTRACTIONS

Common line noises include echoes and static (often caused by cell phone connections) and environmental sounds, such as doorbells, dogs barking, running water, background conversation, etc. which carry through the phone line and can distract listeners and affect the quality of the recordings.

MOUTHPIECE OR MICROPHONE POSITION

Position your mouthpiece or telephone headset microphone a bit away from your mouth and nose to avoid broadcasting your breathing sounds.

TELEPHONE NUMBER CONFIDENTIALITY

To meet our needs for privacy, consideration, and trust please do not share the phone number with other people.  Only people who register for a telecourse are welcome to attend.  If you would like to have several people attend the telecourse at once with you, please make sure that all of them have registered.

MUTING YOUR LINE

Your trainer may mute all participants when the telecourse begins.  If this happens, and you have a question or something you’d like to share with the full group, please dial 1 on your phone keypad.  This will alert your trainer and moderator that you have a question.  Your telephone line will be unmuted to allow your voice to be heard.  Your line will be muted again once your question or comment is complete.

RECORDING CLASSES

We will record your telecourse. The NVC Academy reserves the right to use the recording in other NVC Academy programs. Please note that by registering for this class you are agreeing to allow the NVC Academy to use the recording to further its work to expand and enhance NVC in the world.

LISTENING TO RECORDED CLASSES

Each class recording will be made available to you and other class participants free of charge.  You will be sent an email with information on how to access the recording within a few days of each class session.
