NVC Academy trainers are certified through our international office, the Center for Nonviolent Communication, which was founded by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D.

CNVC has two long-term goals for the certification process. One is to ensure that the next generation and succeeding generations are taught Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in a way that preserves and protects the integrity of the NVC process. The second is to create a community of trainers who want to work with CNVC to fulfill its vision.

CNVC has created a process for certification which generally takes 1-2 years to complete.  It includes completion of at least one year of teaching NVC as a non-certified trainer, leading practice groups, working with at least one certified trainer for guidance, along with daily training logs and journals to chart progress. People are certified when they have completed the program outlined above and can demonstrate the following:  

1. A strong grounding in NVC consciousness
2. A deep understanding of the NVC process
3. Proficient teaching skills, as well as a willingness to continue to grow in all these areas.

There are currently over 250 certified trainers across the United States and other countries throughout the world.
