Listen to Miki answer...
What’s exciting to you about this course?

When it comes to taking care of our basic needs,
evolution designed us to collaborate with others.

However, the pressure of today's social systems and cultural messages interfere with ongoing collaboration. So many of us lack the faith and skills we need in order to live collaboratively, irrespective of cultural demands. We doubt that collaboration is effective… and doubt that it is even possible.

It's time to change that mindset.

During this deeply thought-provoking course, your primary focus will be on learning to notice ways you've internalized cultural messages and what you can do to open up to the grand experiment of our times: engaging with others collaboratively.

If you are within an organization that continues to operate on command, control, and competition, this course also gives you the opportunity to look at the challenge of embracing collabration when you may be at odds with your environment.

To support systematic learning, each week of this course you'll be focusing on one of the following elements – with specific illustrations drawn from your own and other participants' work experiences:

  1. Transcending either / or thinking: why collaborate?
  2. Moving from separation to common purpose;
  3. Shifting from scarcity to creativity and openness; and
  4. Learning to embrace conflict as opportunity.

Miki has designed The Inside Job of Collaboration for real people working in real organizations and situations – for people who believe their organization can evolve into a collaborative workplace where people thrive – even if they know they may be lacking the knowledge, tools, or inner strength needed to bring it about.
