More About Robert

Robert’s passion is in the spirituality of the NVC process. He sees NVC both as a process that helps people to connect more authentically with ourselves and others, and as a spiritual practice and way of living.

Robert Gonzales received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1989. He met Marshall Rosenberg and Nonviolent Communication in 1985, and has been offering Nonviolent Communication training in some form since 1986. His original training is as a licensed psychotherapist.

Robert is one of a team of NVC trainers, the NVC Training Institute, who offer in-depth and continuing NVC training in the United States and Europe.

He has offered Nonviolent Communication training for community colleges, high schools, churches, social workers, psychologists, mediators, teenagers, and public groups. He has taught psychology, counseling and communication at Prescott College, a liberal arts college. Robert opened the Prescott Center for Nonviolent Communication in Prescott, Arizona in June, 2000. He now is director of the Center for Living Compassion.

Robert is past President of the board of directors for the Center for Nonviolent Communication. He is a certified trainer for the Center for Nonviolent Communication and a former trainer at NVC Intensive International Trainings. He is a former assessor in North America for certifying NVC Trainers.

In 2006, Robert launched the NVC LIFE Program which is a multi-year, advanced intensive study program designed to deepen and integrate NVC consciousness into everyday life.

Robert is available to lead NVC trainings and can be reached through the NVC Training Institute or the Prescott Center for Nonviolent Communication.
