Raise Your Awareness & Compassion for Yourself & Others

  • Learn the complexities of intersectionality
  • Gain a deeper understanding of life experiences
  • Clear the way for a more authentic connection
  • Deepen your ability to hold others in compassion

Are you seeking a deeper understanding of discrimination and how it affects our lives and those around us?

Please join Mary Mackenzie for this one-session course to begin to peel back the varying layers of advantage and disadvantage. Understand how they affect our life experiences and the life experiences of others. For instance, a middle-class brown woman in the United States will have a different set of advantages and disadvantages than a lower-income white woman.

Mary will begin this course with a short and compelling video by Civil Rights Leader Kimberlé Crenshaw who coined the term intersectionality. This term is used to refer to the complex and cumulative manner in which the effects of different forms of discrimination (such as racism, sexism, and classism) combine, overlap, and yes, intersect—especially in the experiences of marginalized people or groups.

Following this powerful video will be several small group discussions to deepen connections and learning for all.

Please join us and, together, in a safe environment, we will raise our awareness to support greater compassion for ourselves and others.
